A long road that

lasts 30 years

1977, two young drivers from Italy decided to make their dream of giving motorsports more safety and more style come true, and founded Sparco. 33 years later, Sparco employs over 350 people in 5 offices spread over three continents: the dream is now a world level consolidated reality. This is our history.

    It’s easy to have a dream when you’re young. The hard part is making it come true. That’s how Sparco started out, from the idea of two young drivers from Turin whose dream it was to make the world of competition racing, their world, a safer place to be. It was a time of some big accidents and the FIA had decided to try to make amends. Sparco made its appearance and effectively revolutionised the concept of safety.

    Sparco makes the first ever fireproof suit capable of withstanding 11 seconds of exposure to fire, in compliance with FIA standard 8856-2000 in force at the time. That was just the start, and from then on Sparco has continued to improve, year by year, producing even more resistant suits. 1978 was also the year of the first composite racing seat under the Sparco banner. Our other products were already well known by all: Sparco suits, shoes, gloves and helmets were already running in highest level competitions, but this was the moment that seats became a Sparco speciality and a real point of reference for the entire world of motorsports.

    1983

    Nelson Piquet wins the F1 championship. Sparco wins it with him. Just 5 years on from its foundation, Sparco “wins” a world championship. And takes a liking to it: the same year the Lancia 037 that triumphs in the world rally championship has a Sparco seat.

    It’s the year Sparco develops a habit it is never to lose: winning.

    Sparco banks everything on passion. 1990 sees the start of a special relationship, between Sparco and people with a passion for tuning.

    More and more people want to give their car a unique personality. Sparco decides to start meeting their needs and producing all kinds of custom car accessories.

    1999

    Sparco makes its debut in the world of Supercar, with Sparco B2B. After buying out the composites division of Simbi-Stampal, Sparco specialises in carbon fibre technology, supplying the supercar industry with innovative sports seats with a perfect combination of safety, technology and style.

    2002

    Carbon is the technology of the future. The Sparco B2B division grows fast and in just two years boasts contracts with Bugatti, Lamborghini, Bentley, Ferrari, Maserati, Alfa Romeo, AMG, Toro Rosso. Sparco has the future in its hands. All the world’s fastest cars use Sparco.

    Dr. Aldino Bellazzini becomes the majority shareholder in Sparco and banks everything on product innovation. The Sparco philosophy has found a new supporter.

    Safety and style are the fundamental concepts that make the Sparco world turn. No product ever leaves our factories if it doesn’t reach our standards. Now more than ever.

    Some numbers: Sparco employs 350 people in 5 offices spread over three continents: Volpiano, Leini, Irvine (US), Sao Paulo (Brazil), Grombalia (Tunisia). Our distribution network reaches 60 countries worldwide. We work with the some of the most important teams and constructors in all motorsports categories: McLaren, Williams, Lotus, Virgin, Peugeot Sport, Audi sport, Mercedes AMG. The Sparco B2B division has just obtained a new quality certification: ISO TS 16949:09. For some these are just numbers, for us they’re a reason for pride. The pride of being leader in the world of motorsports.
